What were the dreams of you childhood?
When I was a young I had so many dreams and I still have many dreams. I suppose dreams never come to an end. My main dream was to be successful in life and do something I enjoy and have fun. I never actually dreamt to be a writer even though I enjoyed writing but as I got older it became one of my dreams.
How and when did you first start writing? Did you always want to be a writer?
I use to love writing since I was young, I started writing poetry since I was about ten but I didn't want to be a writer at the time, I mostly wrote just to express my feelings, and dropping my feelings on paper made everything easier for me.
how does your family support you with your writing?
They are always there by my side when I need their help. They listen to my poetry and make suggestions whether its good or not.
DO ANY OTHER MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY WRITE ?
My younger sister, Marinela Reka, writes in my family, her writing is great and she will be very successful in life. He poetry has also been published before, in many poetry anthologies and now she is getting ready to publish her second book.
Does your family like your poems?
I suppose they would like my poetry, as they read my poems a lot, so they do like them but I am not saying they don't judge my poems.
Do your friends enjoy your poems? Do they talk about them with you?
I hope my friends enjoy my poetry. I can't answer a question that is not for me to answer because you never know what a person really feels about something unless you are them, but they say they like my poems when we talk about my poetry, especially the poetry about love.
How do you find inspiration and ideas for your poems?
I don't actually search for ideas or inspirations, they just come to me, I write about what comes to my mind and about what I love the most.
Can you give us a timeline of how one of your books is born - how you start, what steps you go through and about how long the whole thing takes for you?
I didn't even think about publishing my poetry but some of the poems that are in my book I wrote since the age of 13.
Once I had many poems I thought I share them with other people and that's when I decided to do a book. Then after sometime I published it.
How do you balance writing and research? Do you enjoy one more than the other?
Research? As I said before I don't actually do research for my poetry, I just write about what comes to my heart and mind and of course what bothers me the most.
Describe your writing routine. How do you make time to write? Where and when do you usually write?
I write mostly when I feel like writing, and I don't have a timetable telling me when to write, I suppose there are other things around me right now that I have been concentrating on, my A levels for starters. But I do try to write when I can and I feel like it.
How do you deal with setbacks like writer's block and rejection?
To be scared of rejection is like being scared of life, there is nothing I can do about rejection or writer's block but put to the side and move on. I suppose all people, whatever they do can say the same because everyone must get rejected at some point and no one can worry himself or herself about the fact that they have been rejected. When the wind shuts a door it opens the other.
What inspires you? Which authors do you admire?
I admire many authors, many who might not even be known by people but the one author who has inspired me the most is Shakespeare because his work seems to be so original and it has a lot of fantasy.
What is your advice for young writers reaching for their dreams?
Well they have to carry on what they doing and never be ashamed of their work. No one on earth knows you better than you yourself and if your talent is to write then curry on writing and don't give it up. Just always drop your thoughts on a piece of paper.
What are your goals and dreams for the future; what's next for Sonila Reka?
Well I hope that I will finish university and of course I want to write more and more, and hoping that soon I will publish my second book but lets wait and see.
Do you have any messages for your fans, and people who buy your book?
I hope they enjoy reading my book and that it has touched them and I thank them for their support and everything, and they give me courage to curry on what I am doing.
Thank you for your time and the "Domi group" wishes all the best for the future
