Can you tell us something about yourself? Who is Ledi Vokshi?
Ledi Vokshi is a young lady from Durresi. I have been living in New York for 11 years now. I came as a little girl with the hope of my parents to get a good education and better life. I’m a very active person and always on the go. I like to make what’s best out of life and that for me is singing.
When did you start performing on stage? Did you feel nervous at first and is it natural to you now?
I started performing on stage when I was in school. I use to be very nervous because I always tried to be very different. Even if it meant to do something wrong or make up some crazy dances in the middle of the song anything to get me attention good or bad. I wanted to be noticed so it didn’t matter if people liked it or not as long as I was pleased with myself. That led going to collage for classical music. But in my heart I always wanted to become an Albanian singer just didn’t have anyone to help me so I had to help myself at anything I could.
You also do modeling, what else does Ledi Vokshi do?
Singing is my first priority then later comes modeling. Modeling is fun. It’s nice to work with different photographers that bring different sides of you out on pictures.
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
Right now I am working very hard so I can release my first album this summer. That has been my goal in life. Once I do that then I will be a very very happy woman. Then I will work on my second, third album and hopefully never stop. I am hoping when I go to Albania next I can do another video and do some performances out there.
What has been your favorite part so far in your career? What are you most proud of?
My favorite part of my career is knowing that I am going to the studio to record a new song and days before I won’t even be able to sleep because I am so excited. I love the studio, that is my precious time or even my second home it’s where I can let loose and be me. I am proud of being able to be doing what I’ve always wanted to be doing and even though it is taking me a lot longer than I thought it would it is all worth it to me.
Do you like reading, and what sort of books do you read?
I read a lot of biographies or any true life stories. Books give you a lot of knowledge and it opens up your mind to different things. The more you read the more you learn about life.
If you could perform a duet with someone, who would it be, and why?
I would love to perform with all the Albanian singers especially with the older singers like Merita Halili, Sami Kallmi, Bujar Qamili and Ilir Shaqiri. They know how to sing with their soul and I truly admire them for that.
Do you spend lots of money on clothes? What is your favorite thing to treat yourself to?
Is there a girl in the world that doesn’t love spending money on clothes? I love fashion and I love changing my style this way I won’t get bored with myself. I always treat myself to a day at the spa to relax. Sometimes life gets too stressful but a day at the spa rejuvenates me.
What do you mostly value in yourself, what do you think is your best characteristic?
My personality is my best characteristic. I love spending time with my friends and family and showing them the true side of me. My best traits, I can always make you laugh and I know how to always be around for you.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
My vacation spot is right on the beach of Durresi . I will never ever change my spot. No matter what once a year I will always be in Durres getting my tan on the beach by Adriatiku.
What’s you favorite drink?
I don’t have a favorite drink; it all depends on the day and how I’m feeling. On a sexy night I like Apple or Watermelon Martinis, Malibu Bay Breeze. On the tired nights a girl needs something strong and that means anything from Raki, Konjak Skenderbeu or Tequila.
Have you ever got drunk?
I know my limit because I use to bartend a lot. As far as getting drunk only a couple of times but I’m a good drunk. U will never ever be able to tell that I am.
Has Ledi Vokshi found a sweetheart?
:) I think I’m the luckiest girl in the whole world, not only have I found a sweetheart but also my better half. I’m his devil, he’s my angel. Take it from me that soul mates do exist.
What would you say to all Albanian girls who want to start their singing career?
To any Albanian girl that wants to start singing as their career>make sure this is what you really want. If this is really want you want then you put your heart and soul into it and take any chance that comes in to you. Don’t let people bring you down. Sing as much as you can, school, home, parties anywhere, just SING. Dreams do come true, I’m living mine right now!
